The story of Josh Gray is something that you may have heard of before...inner city, challenging upbringing, but crazy talented...
You can check any scouting service and more than likely, you will not run into Josh Gray's name as a National Elite Point Guard. It's the usual suspects, Marcus Paige, Kevin Ferrell, Rodney Purvis but if you ask Josh, he would pay respect to those guys but would look at you with a serious face and tell you that he's better than all of them... with no hesitation!
A lack of exposure is what kept Josh Gray on that top 150 list and those that have watched him play on a consistent basis couldn't argue with that statement. He started his last AAU run as the PG for the upstart Texas PRO team that starred Isaiah Austin, Danuel House, & Chicken Knowles...without doubt, Josh would have been in the top 10 PG category had he remained with Texas PRO last summer.
Entering his senior season with the Wheatley Wildcats, Josh verbally committed to Mississippi State and had second thoughts for a while before actually signing the letter of intent in November. He has continued to grow and develop as the sky is the limit for this kid as long as he continues to work and avoid those traps that are out there to stiffle kids and their growth and development.
Here's the story of Josh Gray, a kid from Lake Charles, LA who had some hardships in his young life, endured the toughest loss and I'm not talking about a basketball game, but continues to beat the odds in his quest for greatness.
Here's a glimpse into the Story of the BEST PG that you've never heard of:

Deandre Jordan (Flashback)
Deandre Jordan was a player that was featured on the HSH: Hooping in Houston documentary back in 2007. A short 4 years later, Deandre spent a year at Texas A&M and is now a member of the LA Clippers where he was drafted in 2008 with the 35th pick. During his senior year (high school) Deandre was nationally ranked in the top 10 of his class but wasn't invited to the prestigious McDonald's All American game.
Deandre and Bill Walker were the only players in the top 10 that didnt receive the invitation to play in the Mickey D's game. There were 16 players out of the 24 selected that were "ranked' below Deandre. However, this class was loaded with talent, have you ever heard of; Blake Griffin (Deandre's teammate with the Clippers), OJ Mayo, Derrick Rose, Kevin Love, Mike Beasley, Eric Gordon, James Harden, just to name a few.
Not being selected for the McDonald's game fueled Deandre as he entered his 1st and only year at Texas A&M. Some may say that he left too early and probably should have stayed for an extra year, but Deandre and his family obviously felt like he was ready... In 2008 he was drafted by the LA Clippers in the 2nd Round (35th pick). The very next year, the Clippers landed the #1 pick and drafted Blake Griffin.
Deandre has continued to grind and work on his game and is noted as a rebounder, defender, and high flying finisher around the rim. His strong attributes has allowed him to resign an agreement with the Clippers and most recently he just inked an endorsement deal with Under Armour.
It's not a sprint, it's a marathon... #ItWasAllADream

John Gillon Catches Fire...
Strake Jesuit Dynamic Duo: John Gillon aka Robin (rocking the UALR gear) and Rasheed Sulaimon aka Batman (rocking the Duke gear)
In the 2nd Half of a heated and emotional rivalry game against St. Thomas, John Gillon scores 21 points! This game felt more like a Duke and North Carolina match up, the fans on both sides of the court were trying to do anything they could to intimidate the other team. The energy in the building was so high that during halftime the cheerleaders had a "flip" off as they tried to out acrobat each other... it was something to witness and I've never seen anything like it before.
Check out the video recap of this exciting display put on by John Gillon of Strake Jesuit...

Yates end losing streak...
Yates prevail in a hard fought battle against a tough Wheatley program. After being down by 10 points in the 3rd Quarter Clyde Santee basically took the game over and the Jack Yates Lions didnt look back. Over turning their lead and going up by double digits ultimately winning by 11 (95-84).
During this battle there were several top plays that made the crowd rise to their feet but nothing like the dunks that Ruston Hayward (Wheatley) & Clyde Santee gave the crowd. See for yourself below:
